Purpose:

Work independently to provide customer service and technical support to colleges for the State Grants Portal.  Work with NCSEAA and Grants and RDS Program Manager to provide policy and procedural guidance to colleges about state grants.  Help facilitate changes and improvements to the State Grants Portal and troubleshoot issues. Administer various scholarship programs, including the Victor E Bell, Jr. Scholarship.  Maintain knowledge of policies and regulations around NC state financial aid with some knowledge of Federal Financial aid policy. Assist Grants and RDS Program Manager as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Process state grant adjustments and communicate with colleges about discrepancies
  • Provide technical assistance to colleges on the state grants portal
  • Troubleshoot any portal issues, including file upload errors
  • Provide policy and procedural guidance to colleges about state grant programs, consulting with the Grants and RDS Program Manager and SEAA as needed
  • Ensure that accurate and up-to-date written procedures and system documentation are organized and communicated effectively as needed
  • Create and present training sessions for colleges on state grant polices and use of the state grants portal
  • Work with the Grants and RDS Program Manager to develop and maintain procedures related to the administration of state grant and scholarship programs
  • Assist the Grants and RDS Program Manager in creating and providing reports to SEAA and colleges as needed
  • Assist the Grants and RDS Program Manager with requests for state grant program data
  • Produce end-of-year statistical reports for the state grant programs
  • Attend state financial aid conferences and other training as needed, with possible overnight travel
  • Based upon input from colleges, SEAA, and the Grants and RDS Program Manager, facilitate changes and improvements to the state grant programs and the portal; Assist QA with testing as needed
  • Facilitate annual maintenance of payment tables on state grants portal and updates to policy documents as needed
  • Work with SEAA and the Grants and RDS Program Manager to communicate policy changes, deadlines, and updates to colleges
  • Work with the Grants and RDS Program Manager and software vendors on changes or updates to the state grant programs’ interfaces as needed
  • Support administration of scholarship programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years related experience. 

 

Experience:

College Financial Aid administration experience preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize work in a multi-task environment and establish priorities based on timelines and objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Foundation employees at all levels, outside business partners, and schools.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills, including ability to write procedures, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to present, train and to facilitate meetings and work groups
